Writer’s block is a good thing.
You know who gets writer’s block? WRITERS.
I know a lot of guys in a lot of industries who churn out content like crazy and never seem to have trouble writing. Because they’re not writers.
They just want to get their ideas on the page; they don’t care about the presentation.
They don’t agonize over every word choice.
They don’t meticulously switch sentences back and forth, reading things aloud to experience its flow.
They just publish.
Theirs is the path of the Dark Side: quicker, easier, more seductive. But not better.
There is nobility in struggle, and only through great struggle does greatness emerge.
Be noble and write, because you are a writer, and that is a magical thing to be.

Love this, thanks John. I sometimes feel like I'm crazy because I can't churn out content as quickly as other people. That in turn leads to feeling discouraged about creating content in the first place, which makes me even slower. It's kind of a shit spiral. Do you have any tips for helping writers write just a little quicker?April 13, 2017 at 11:17 am
